People suffering from back pain are very common. It may be a usual reason to pay a visit to the doctor or leave work, but fortunately, you can take certain measures to get relief. Before discussing the measures, it is important to know the probable causes and risk factors considering spinal cord pain. The spine is the strongest and flexible bone running from the skull to the tail bone of human anatomy. It comprises twenty-four small bones known as vertebrae which get protection from discs, ligaments, and muscles. Sometimes the discs may get affected due to age, accident, or neurological problems. This condition refers to a herniated disc [หมอน รอง กระดูก ปลิ้น] and is one of the common reasons for spinal cord problems. Origin of Slip Disk The occurrence of slip disc in the back can happen as an injury or excessive strain. Repeated heavy lifting or poor physical condition can lead to aching spasms in the back muscles and ligaments. The delicate cushion inside the disk placed between vertebras may press on the nerves due to bulging or rupturing. The space between the spinal cord may narrow down due to arthritis in the lower back leading to a condition known as spinal stenosis. Sometimes the bones present in the vertebrae can become porous or brittle due to osteoporosis. Neglected office syndrome due to poor office infrastructure can end up in a slipped disk. These are the few causes of disc herniation. Risky factors There is no specific age for experiencing pain in the spine. People, irrespective of age and gender, can suffer from it. But some factors may make you prone to slip discs. Firstly age is an important factor because older people have lower bone density, and so, the regular wear and tear of the vertebrae can cause this ailment. Obesity or excess body weight can put a lot of stress on the spine. Existing diseases like arthritis or some cancer can be a factor too. People suffering from depression or other psychological diseases have more chances of having disc-related issues. Lastly, smoking is a very significant risk factor as it tends to decrease the blood flow to the spine, increasing the chances of osteoporosis. Generally, men are twice more prone to a slip disc condition.
